Vegetarian Teriyaki Onigirazu



What is onigirazu?

"Onigirazu is a type of Japanese rice ball or onigiri (sometimes also referred to as musubi or musubi), but rather than a traditionally shaped ball or a triangle, onigirazu is shaped into a flat rectangle, almost like a sandwich." - thespruceeats

Prep time: 2+ hours Cooking time: 30 mins

Onigirazu: 1 serving


Cooking Instructions: 

- BEFORE COOKING, PRESOAK THE VEGAN STEAKS IN A LIGHT SOY SAUCE WATER MIXTURE FOR 2+ HOURS BEFORE USE. PLEASE PAT THE VEGANS STEAKS DRY BEFORE USAGE.


INGREDIENTS:

Onigirazu:

  • 1 full sheet of Seaweed (ft. Little Jasmine Organic Roasted Seaweed)

  • Teriyaki Vegan Steak (ft. Arroyo Kitchen Vegan Steak)

  • 1.5 cups of cooked rice

  • sliced cucumbers

  • 1 tsp of sesame oil sesame seeds

  • 1 fried egg

  • 1 tbsp of Arroyo Kitchen Delicious Onion Sauce

  • 2 or 3 tsp of Soy Sauce


 Teriyaki Sauce Ingredients: 2+ servings

  • Teriyaki Sauce Ingredients: (2 + servings)

  • 1.25 C of water

  • 1/4 C of soy sauce

  • 5 tbsp of sugar

  •  2 tsp of honey

  • 2 tsp of ginger

  • 2 tbsp of corn starch 


DIRECTIONS:

BEFORE COOKING, PRESOAK THE VEGAN STEAKS IN A LIGHT SOY SAUCE WATER MIXTURE FOR 2+ HOURS BEFORE USE. PLEASE PAT THE VEGANS STEAKS DRY BEFORE USAGE.


Make Teriyaki Sauce

Step 1: Pour 1 C of water into a small pot














Step 2: Pour all the soy sauce into the pan














Step 3: Add in all the sugar
















Step 4: Add in ginger, minced garlic, and honey.
















Step 6: Stir and bring it to a boil















Step 7: Put cornstarch into the remaining 1/4 C of water and make a slurry.













Step 8: Add the slurry into sauce














Step 9: Heat until thicken and set aside to cool.


















Ingredients Preparation:

Step 1: Fried the eggs and set it aside











Step 2: Cook the vegans steaks with the teriyaki sauce and set it aside.


















Step 3: Wash cucumber and cut diagonally for longer slices

Step 4: Add sesame oil and sesame seed to the cooked rice and mix


Assemble the Onigirazu:

Step 1: Place a large piece of plastic wrap onto the working surface 

Step 2: Place the seaweed on top of the plastic wrap 

Step 3: Divide the rice in half and place the first half of the rice on the center of the seaweed

Step 4: Place the cucumber on top of the rice

Step 5: Place the Teriyaki Vegan Steaks on top

Step 6: Place the eggs on top

Step 7: Finish it off withe the remaining rice

Step 8: To wrap, pull the corners together

Step 9: Use the plastic wrap to wrap the entire onigirazu

Step 10: Allow it to sit for a few minutes to let the seaweed to soften


Step 11: Cut and ENJOY!
